Gail GoellerConceived in Tacoma, WA and born in Spokane, WA Gail married her high school sweetheart (oh, dear) in 1964. Temporarily latching themselves to Seattle, when Gail became pregnant, the two got frightened and beat a hasty retreat back to Spokane and four prospective grandparents. Still there at 63 years of age.

"August 1964: L to R - Dad, Impie, John, Gail, Mom and Ray"

Major Growth Episodes

#1:

Two precious children spaced 18 months apart (planned!) home alone with their 26+ year-old mother. Gail doesn't have MS - she is just way out of her comfort zone. Became involved in Parent Education-intellectual compensation, at least, for the emotional/behavioral roller coaster of parenting.

#2:

After shooing two children off to school in her thirties, Gail caught a trapeze that landed her in a nontraditional-knock-your-socks-off grad school program. Yes, it was experiential, nudging her toward professionals like Virginia Satir and Anne Wilson Schaef who left fingerprints on her soul. Grow or die.

#3:

A two-year separation with John. Stone-broke, the two motored a corrugated highway to Anchorage, AK to seek employment on a fishing boat. In between fights, they fantasized about the money they'd rake in. Alas and instead, they were hired to clean fish.

#4:

Have you seen our kids? Scaling down due to college tuition.
Empty nest. Tough, tough.
Celebration and remorse - the usual, bittersweet harvest of parents.

#5:

Well, duh, twelve years of eldercare follow. Intimacy. Loss. Conflict. Losing our senses of humor. Discovering laughter; discovering laughter... again.

#6:

Husband John drew the joker genetic card; he has been diagnosed with early stage Alzheimers. Stay tuned....
